Module 9 : Activity 3 - Thinking about the whole school

There are several elements of the "whole school improvement framework" that needs to be improved at my school but I chose to focus on that of Leadership.  I believe that if there is a good leader with a vision and a mission to see success at his/her school this could be the driving force for positive development that is needed for the integration of ICT to be successful.  A leader can be a motivator as well as be motivated to be a part of the digital age.  Create partnerships with stakeholders in order to get infrastructual changes implemented.  Act as the laison to the cirruculum and development experts within the ministry to enact changes for curricukum and assessment within the school.

A good leader can be the change to foster teamwork as well as delegate the process of setting up behaviour and codes of conduct which can ensure better adherence to ICT implementation.  A leader can be the vehicle for the much needed change at my school.

There have been improvement made over the current academic year and I am sure that more significant ones will be made but, I believe that a more holistic appraoch would result in a better  appreciation of the progress.  I have had the priviledge of implementing some of the changes but this has not had the impact that is required to be considered major.  The setting up of training sessions so the staff can use the EMIS, assisting with software migration and hardware upgrades, the purchase and use of aSc timetabling software as well as the administering of the CXC sites.  That is still only a scratch at the surface and there is so much more that can be done.

Leadership can be the key to our success.
